About Saturn Walk

Saturn Walk is an independent sewing studio built around a deep fabric obsession, a constant need to be making something, and a love of creating pieces meant to be worn, used, and genuinely lived in.
I’m always scouting unique, unexpected fabrics, and I’ve spent most of my life collecting materials and refining my sewing skills. I learned to sew as a child from my grandmother while growing up in California, and what started as curiosity turned into a lifelong practice.
Today, I design, cut, and sew everything myself, either individually or in small batches, ensuring each piece has its own character and sense of individuality.
Saturn Walk is for the fun, wild, and old souls who reject blending in. I don’t repeat designs endlessly or chase uniformity. Variation is intentional, and no two pieces are exactly the same.
Before starting Saturn Walk, I spent my entire adult life working in Human Resources, beginning at 18 in the Active Duty Army and later as an Army civilian. While that career provided stability, it also came with challenges that sewing and creating helped me navigate. Making things became both an outlet and a grounding force.
Over the years, I’ve made quilts, kitchen goods, clothing, accessories, pet items, and plenty of mistakes. Friends and family now have one-of-a-kind pieces scattered all over the world. Creating outside of mass production pushed me toward more thoughtful, ethical making and turned me into a full-blown “I can make that” person, which inevitably led to a never-ending cycle of learning new techniques and skills.
I’d been told countless times that I should start a business, but I always worried that turning my hobby into work might take the joy out of it. That changed after a long period of unemployment following a layoff. With nowhere else to be, I started sewing as if it was my job—barely making a dent in my massive fabric collection and refusing to sew the same thing twice.
Saturn Walk grew out of that moment. What began as persistence turned into purpose. I enjoy having a full-time connection to sewing, learning, and creating, and I’m grateful to share that work with people who value pieces that feel personal, intentional, and a little different.
Sincerely,
April
